This community workshop will be focused on helping families navigate the garden planning process.  We will navigate buying seeds and plants, how to plan for space in your garden, and how to set realistic goals for the season.  Resources to help you on the gardening journey will be provided.


Plant Propagation- cuttings, seeding and divisions

Three Part Series

This special three-part series will go through the basics of three ways to propagate plants with a horticultural professional. Start with seeding something for the garden or sunny windowsill, learn how to take and root your own cuttings of houseplants, perennials, and shrubs, and how to fearlessly divide root bound pots to make more plants. This will be a hands-on workshop with take home projects that include a sampling of seeding starts and a houseplant and/or shrub cutting. Includes a reference handout and all materials (pots, seeds, cuttings, and soil).

Whether planning a new garden or changing an existing planting, creating a year-round season of interest is at the top of most gardeners’ lists. Learn about the basics of the design process, how to assess your landscape, and how to work with your site challenges to make a beautiful garden you can enjoy throughout the year. Detailed plant lists will cover a wide range of garden conditions and every season of the year, utilizing shrubs, trees, bulbs, annuals and perennials. Hattie will walk you through the process and help address specific site challenges as we go. Includes detailed handout and extensive plant lists.

Learn how to work with the natural rhythms of our native pollinators in your own landscape to create a rich and beautiful garden that nurtures important insects for every stage of life. Explore a diverse list of plants for every season that goes beyond the common ‘top ten’ plant lists and learn about a diverse array of plants that nurture our pollinators for all stages of life and through every season. Includes detailed handout and plant lists. This is a workshop for beginners to professionals, and even the garden curious!


Protecting Waterways: Rain Gardens and Managing Run Off

Protecting Lake Champlain and it's watershed has become a serious issue in the last few years- learn how to help by using ecological solutions and strategic gardens with certified horticulturist Hattie White from Apis Garden Coaching.  Rain gardens, rain water run off management and alternative garden and landscape maintenance techniques will be discussed. Detailed hand outs with rain garden specific plant lists are included. This workshop is geared towards home owners and smaller projects, but will also touch on large scale projects.
